I know it is still technically early in the life span, but anyone know if there has been any updates on being able to customize the boot loading screen (Blue Windows logo with animated dots at the bottom, during start up)? Really wanting to change up the branding for an arcade/HTPC machine to something more personal. In my research attempts, there was plenty of information on doing it for Windows 7, but Windows 10 still seems to be a mystery for most. Some even believe it is not possible due to the new OS having it 'baked in' essentially.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would like to change the shell, for booting straight in to something like Kodi or EmulationStation, etc. I know things can be done in Classic Shell, but I know it is still working out the compatibility bugs with Win10 through updates. Also, all the info I have found has been more about changing Win10 back in to something visually similar to Win7, not about custom shells and boot-to options. So information in this area would be great too.
But mainly looking for how to customize boot loading animation, currently. Thanks for your time.
Starting with Windows 8, the animation is replaced by a static Windows logo. If you're running UEFI, the computer manufacturer logo will be displayed instead. Unfortunately there's no way to make the logo animated.
They took it out with an excuse that supposedly you don't see the boot screen for too long anyway. If you're running legacy mode (not UEFI), there's a way to change the boot logo by editing the resources in the file called bootres.dll. Seems that it hasn't changed in Windows 10.
Note that it's not a very easy thing to do, and it will most likely require you to run Windows in 'test mode' that doesn't verify digital signatures in order to allow the system to use a modified bootres.dll On UEFI systems, I imagine editing the bootlogo will have to do more with editing the firmware binary and flashing a modified one. The difficulty and exact steps vary from one system to another. And, yes, I do understand that it was built to boot faster, and with today's hardware (SSDs, M.2 drives, etc), on a fairly new PC you would hardly even see the boot loading screen. I this purely a personal choice to completely customize my HTPC/arcade experience. Harmon Kardon Speakers Driver Hp Laptop. I currently have Kodi set up using CinemaExperience(?) to play customized theater-style videos for 'Coming Soon.' 'Feature Presentation', etc. Download Free Royal Trux Pound For Pound Rar more.
